The Turks and Caicos are a water lover's Eden, with the planet's third-largest coral reef system, rated one of the world's premier diving destinations by leading experts, including Jacques Cousteau. Whether you're a swimmer, diver, snorkeler, angler or other watersports enthusiast, our islands offer some of the best tropical beaches and clearest waters in the world. Imagine all you might do on white sand shores stretching over 230 miles, encircled by magnificent turquoise water. From The Alexandra, located at the hub of this activity, you can book exciting tour excursions just offshore in Provo or out to the surrounding islands.Island Golf (nearby)
The Alexandra's neighbor on Grace Bay Beach is the Provo Golf & Country Club. The Club consists of a championship 18-hole golf course ranked in the "Top 10 Best Caribbean Golf Courses" by Caribbean Travel & Life. As Golf Digest put it, "The Provo Golf Club was easily the most surprising find of the entire trip … a first-rate design, maintained to the highest standards." The signature clubhouse features the Fairways Bar and Grill, a superbly stocked pro shop and lighted tennis courts.Shopping
Good news, shoppers: on the Turks and Caicos, you pay no sales tax on regular purchases, and, in addition, many items are duty-free! The lack of mega-malls makes your shopping adventures even more fun, especially if you focus on supporting the local artists and craftspeople, as well as the local brewers of beer (Turks Head, a microbrew) and roasters of coffee. Just a few of the riches to be found by a savvy shopper include beautiful fanner grass and straw baskets, rag dolls and rum (The Spirit of the Turks and Caicos), as well as grits from Middle Caicos to cook up with peas when you get home.
