  • Barbados Wildlife Reserve - Established with Canadian help in 1985, the Barbados Wildlife Reserve is set in four acres of mature mahogany trees and is primarily a monkey sanctuary. The reserve offers visitors an excellent sightseeing opportunity to observe the Green Monkeys of Barbados at close range and in their own natural habitat.

  • Bathsheba - This little fishing village on the east coast is a favorite spot for photographers because of its picturesque rocky terrain. It also boasts one of the island's most spectacular beaches. It is situated about 14 miles (23km) from Bridgetown in St. Joseph and is known locally as the 'Soup Bowl' because of its foaming surf. It is a favorite surfing spot and the venue of the annual surfing contest.

  • Cherry Tree Hill - The central attraction at Cherry Tree Hill is the avenue of old Mahogany trees and a view overlooking Scotland valley.

  • Drax Hall - It is generally believed that Drax Hall was built by the brothers William and James Drax in the 1650's. It is one of the earliest, biggest and wealthiest sugar properties in Barbados, and presently is the oldest surviving Jacobean mansion in the Western Hemisphere. It has a classic Jacobean architecture, with steep gable roofs, corner finials, casement gable windows and a Jacobean staircase with its carved hall archway of mastic wood.

  • Farley Hill - Breathtaking scenery, set in the grounds of the once regal Farley Hill House, started in 1818. Farley Hill is an ideal spot to picnic, escape into nature, hide in the shade of a comforting tree and to simply stare out to sea.

  • Gun Hill Signal Station - This strategically placed 1818 tower is the finest in a chain of signal stations which once carried news across the island to other stations using flags and lantern codes - crises such as enemy ships approaching or fire in the cane fields. Maintained by the Barbados National Trust, the mill includes an exhibit of the equipment used to produce sugar at the time when the industry was run by wind power generated from mills such as this one. An interesting architectural feature is that the rubble walls are comprised of the boulders held together with a mixture of egg white and coral dust, (there was no cement when this plantation was built).

  • St. James Parish Church - St. James Parish Church is among the four oldest surviving, historic churches in Barbados. Built in 1847, it is located near the site of the island's first settlement in Holetown. In the southern porch of the church is a bell with the inscription - 'God bless King William, 1696'. This bell pre-dates the famous American Liberty Bell by 54 years.
